Job Summary
The DOT Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company vehicles (up to [26,000] lbs GVWR) to transport materials and goods to designated locations. You will act as the primary point of contact for our customers at delivery sites and must maintain strict compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe Operation: Operate a company truck [specify type, e.g., 26ft Box Truck / Flatbed] in a safe manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
- DOT Compliance: Maintain a current DOT Medical Card and adhere to all DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations. Accurately utilize an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) or paper logs as required.
- Vehicle Inspections: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections (DVIR) to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy. Report any mechanical issues, body damage, or maintenance needs immediately to the fleet manager.
- Cargo Handling: Load and unload cargo safely. Secure all loads using straps, bars, or chains to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Documentation: Verify shipping documents (Bills of Lading) against cargo loaded. Obtain proof of delivery signatures and submit paperwork promptly.
- Route Planning: Plan the most efficient routes to ensure on-time delivery while accounting for vehicle height/weight restrictions and traffic conditions.
Qualifications & Requirements
